Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Her parents who were dental surgeons along with a teacher, recognized and encouraged her passion for the theatre and dramatic arts from a young age which overcame her initial ambition to become a primatologist thanks to her passion for monkeys. A quick and successful start to success as well as a swift rise in fame marked her as a young actor. After her graduation in 1998, she appeared on an French television show that scouts talent Jeunes Premiers that was sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors before launching her acting career fully. Although she studied at an institution called the Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou is now averse to the Catholic tradition, saying that she is not officially Catholic. Alongside her acting career, Tautou did modeling, and was the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Additionally, she is a keen passion for photography. She recently put on an exhibit of photographs at the Arles Festival with the name Superficial. The majority of her photography is focused on the spotlight and celebrities and turns the camera towards the reporters who sat on her following her sudden success with Amelie in addition to a series of self-portraits. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame when she landed her first major role starring in the role of The Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie has been a international box office success and was recognized by numerous ceremony awards around the world. The film is still the highest-grossing French language film on the market in US. After this huge success, Tautou went on to appear in a variety of films, including British dramatics, such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. She also starred alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
